FAQ

Who is Behind The Crew List?

The Crew List evolved from an idea of the owners of The Crew Company, a crew booking agency providing production crews worldwide from top entertainment companies since 1997. What began as a concept of creating an online database of resumes/CV’s and Reels/Portfolios accessible only to their clientele, grew to be a searchable map-based crew-profile database available to reach the Production World.

This site exists solely on low, yearly membership fees that crew members pay to keep their profiles listed for clientele to view.  There are no “Premium” paid-listings on this site, nor are there free listings.  We want the user experience to be easy to use. Friendly – like us.

We are production people. We know time is limited and you want to see a crew member’s work and make decisions quickly. We have made this process as easy as possible for you…without the distractions and clutter other online booking experiences provide.

What is The Crew List?

The Crew List is a crew-search database of listed Independent Contractors. Freely use the interactive map to find these crew members worldwide, view crew profiles, contact and book directly. Crew members pay a small yearly fee to be listed on the site. They upload their own content and manage their own profile pages. Members are booked and paid directly by the production hiring them.

What makes us different from other online booking services?

The Crew List was designed and developed using the experience of what we as production professionals understand that crews want to showcase and what clients need to see in the vetting process. Each profile was designed with a structure that if completed, is thorough enough for a user to properly screen a crew member’s creative work and credits, union affiliation, technical/gear ownership, insurance, etc. You may have noticed no advertising or “Premium Placements” with crew listings. This is because we believe everyone’s work should speak for itself. Ultimately, it is up to each producer or Production Manager to decide which crew member is right for their project.

"I have a limited budget, but can't sacrifice quality!"

Most productions don’t have the luxury of an unlimited budget. The Crew List members want to work with you and your budgets, but remember they are professionals in the industry. The rates you offer should be at minimum, the industry standard. Additionally, if you are working with a Crew List crew for the first time, it is not uncommon for you to pay a deposit upfront. In today’s ever demanding market of HD, 4K and 8K camera and lighting gear – many DP/Camera Operators are renting or sourcing their gear from partner companies. This means more crew members are paying out of pocket costs in advance for your shoot. This is something you should work out with the crew directly.

What kind of experience to The Crew List MEMBERS have?

Each crew member has their own individual resume, using The Crew List you are able to access and view each member’s profile which highlights their credit list, reel, equipment, etc.
